Cumhuriyet criticised Bulut for his frequently incorrect analysis of Turkey’s exchange rate problem.
Bulut is known for being a loyal supporter of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s government, and for blaming Turkey’s economic woes on external forces.

Bulut became one of Erdoğan’s key advisors when he was still prime minister after Bulut’s staunch support for him during the Gezi protests of 2013. He is known for his conspiracy theories to defend the ruling party and Erdogan during and after the protests.
One of Bulut’s most famous conspiracy theories was that in many centers there is work going on to kill Erdoğan from afar, through methods like telekinesis.
According to a report by Odatv, Yiğit Bulut tested positive for Covid-19 and was under treatment.
Bulut is not the first senior member of the Turkish government to catch Covid-19. Last week, Presidential spokesman Ibrahim Kalin was reported to have tested positive and Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu also contracted the virus. Burhan Kuzu, another top adviser and former AKP deputy, died due to the virus on Nov. 1.
