Edward G. Stafford retired from the U.S. Foreign Service Officer in October 2016. His last assignment was as a faculty member of the Inter-American Defense College where he taught Civilian-Military relations. His most recent overseas assignment was as Counselor for Political-Military Affairs in Ankara, Turkey (2011-14). He also served overseas in Baghdad, Luanda, Bucharest, Lusaka, Conakry, and Tijuana. His domestic assignments were in Iraqi Affairs, Political-Military Affairs, and the Bureau of Intelligence and Research.
